Friends Of The Mahoning River

Friends of the Mahoning River is a volunteer-led nonprofit in Youngstown, Ohio that advocates to improve the quality of the Mahoning River through education, restoration, and recreation. Founded in 2012 by residents pushing back on negative perceptions of a river long used as an industrial waste repository, it works to promote environmental sustainability and community partnerships along the Mahoning River Corridor. Its programming includes public events such as the annual Riverfest.
