Friends Of The Lower Appomattox River Inc

FOLAR is a Petersburg, Virginia nonprofit dedicated to the conservation, protection, and enjoyment of the lower Appomattox River, which runs 22 miles from Lake Chesdin to its confluence with the James at City Point in Hopewell. Its two central objectives are completing the 25-mile Appomattox River Trail linking six Tri-Cities jurisdictions and engaging those communities through education and stewardship. Work includes riparian restoration and invasive species removal, river cleanups, land conservation planning, and an environmental stewardship scholarship for local high school seniors.
