Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR) has worked since 1986 to protect and restore the Los Angeles River along its 51 miles from Canoga Park to Long Beach. It builds capacity for communities, students, and future leaders to advocate for nature, climate, and equity on the river through K-12 education, habitat restoration, and policy advocacy. FoLAR also runs the annual Great LA River CleanUp, which it describes as the largest urban river cleanup in the country.
