Friends Of The Detroit River

Friends of the Detroit River works to protect, defend, and improve the Detroit River through community-based stewardship and restoration, targeting air and water pollution, development on fragile shorelines, and habitat loss. It has overseen more than $30 million in habitat restoration work along the river and runs the Detroit Riverkeeper program, which has patrolled and monitored the river by boat since 2005. The organization also serves the Detroit River Public Advisory Council and hosts the Detroit River Water Festival, an education program for local students.
