Friends of the Big Sioux River is a Sioux Falls based nonprofit working for a clean, healthy and safe Big Sioux River in eastern South Dakota. It runs water quality monitoring focused on the river's three primary impairments (total suspended solids from soil erosion, E. coli from animal waste, and nitrates from fertilizer), along with river restoration, education, cleanups, and public policy advocacy. The organization engages stakeholders across urban, rural, commercial, and government settings throughout the watershed.
