Friends of Smith Mountain Lake State Park is a 501(c)(3) volunteer group of area residents interested in promoting, protecting, and preserving Smith Mountain Lake State Park in Huddleston, Virginia. Members work closely with park staff to provide additional services, programs, and support, and have contributed more than 75,000 volunteer hours since the group was founded. Its programs include a Winter Lecture Series, Music in the Park, an osprey webcam, tour boat trips, and projects on pollinators, purple martins, and restoring the American chestnut.
