Friends Of Opossum Lake

Friends of Opossum Lake Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) formed in 2006 in Lower Frankford Township near Carlisle, Pennsylvania, after the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission proposed permanently draining Opossum Lake over dam and spillway safety problems. The group worked with township, county, and state partners to get the dam restored and the lake refilled in 2013, and now serves as steward of the roughly four mile blue blazed trail circling the lake. Its ongoing work includes volunteer trail work days, riparian buffer and native plantings, a trail adoption program, and the annual Awesum Possum Lake Trail Adventure race.
