Friends of Lake Lily is a volunteer nonprofit working to restore and maintain Lake Lily in Cape May Point, New Jersey. Its projects include removing invasive brush and Phragmites that have choked out native growth on the lake's island, replanting natives, using water-circulating bubblers and enzyme treatments to reduce muck and phosphorus, and installing lake mats to control vegetation without harsh chemicals. The group calls the restoration a community partnership, working with the borough, universities, and partner organizations to protect habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife.
