Friends of Island Lake State Recreation Area works to support, enhance, protect and promote the natural, historic, and recreational features of Island Lake State Recreation Area, a 4,000-acre park in southeast Michigan that takes in four inland lakes and a stretch of the Huron River. The group runs volunteer conservation and stewardship work in the park and coordinates programs for visitors, including annual full-moon Lantern Hikes. It also raises funds through memberships, donations, and merchandise sales.
