Friends of Deerfield Island Park is a nonprofit supporting Deerfield Island Park, a 56-acre nature-oriented park run by the Broward County Department of Parks and Recreation, on an island bordered by the Intracoastal Waterway and the Hillsboro River between Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton. The group funds park amenities and interpretive features, including benches and chairs for an outdoor classroom, kayak racks, a kayak landing dock, an ambassador kiosk, and a three-dimensional wingspan exhibit. It also publishes articles on the island's flora and fauna, from mangroves and gumbo limbo trees to gopher tortoises, wading birds, and manatees.
