Friends of Carpenter's Woods is dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of Carpenter's Woods as an ecologically important natural area and public resource. The woods are part of Philadelphia's Fairmount Park system in the northwestern part of the city, preserved from development in 1916 because of their importance to resident and migratory bird species. The group describes itself as the only one dedicated to Carpenter's Woods, providing ongoing maintenance, educational programming, and public information, and running volunteer service days for work such as meadow weeding, invasive plant removal, and trail and bridge repair.
