French Broad Riverkeeper

The French Broad Riverkeeper is MountainTrue's program guarding the French Broad River basin in the southern Blue Ridge, one of several riverkeepers the organization stations across its river basins. From May to September the riverkeeper and volunteers collect weekly water samples from the French Broad and neighboring watersheds, testing for pollution, running cleanups, and posting results so people know where it is safe to swim. The riverkeeper also manages the French Broad River Paddle Trail, which facilitates public access to and camping on over 140 miles of the river, from the headwaters in Rosman, North Carolina to Douglas Lake in Tennessee.
