Francis Small Heritage Trust

Francis Small Heritage Trust protects wildlife habitat, watersheds, forests, and farms in southwestern Maine to support conservation, climate resilience, low impact recreation, traditional uses, environmental education, and to honor Indigenous connections to the land. Founded in 1990 and based in Limerick, the trust owns 2,400 acres and holds easements on another 580 acres across northern York County, southern Oxford County, and western Cumberland County. Its lands are open for hiking, hunting, fishing, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling on existing trails, alongside education programs and compatible uses such as agriculture and forestry.
