Foothill Conservancy

Foothill Conservancy is a local advocacy organization based in Sutter Creek, California, that works on land use and watershed protection in Amador and Calaveras counties. It participates in public review of large construction projects, general plans, and city and county zoning regulations to keep the area's rural character intact, and works to preserve agricultural land, forest, and open space. Its watershed work protects the wildlife, recreation, and scenic values of the Mokelumne River and nearby streams and lakes, including opposing proposed hydroelectric projects on the Lower Bear River and Salt Springs Reservoir and pursuing wild and scenic designation.
