Earthspan

Earthspan develops and deploys technologies for wildlife conservation science, pairing satellite biotelemetry with GIS and remote sensing, and offers basic research and educational outreach in service of biodiversity conservation. Formed in 1994, its work began with population studies of migrating tundra peregrine falcons and continues through long term standardized monitoring, including 54 years of falcon surveys on Assateague Island, Maryland, and an archive of blood samples used to assess contaminant and disease exposure. It also created Eye of the Falcon, an interdisciplinary curriculum that uses satellite wildlife tracking and remote sensing data to teach core life science concepts.
