Committees For Land Air Water And Species

Committees for Land, Air, Water and Species (CLAWS) states its mission as protecting the natural resources and the environmental, social, and cultural heritage of all residents, human and otherwise, of California's Central Coast. It works through four committees that examine the environmental and social consequences of regional development, beginning in 2014 with a transportation committee (now Land) that challenged highway expansion. It also acts as fiscal sponsor for a Chumash Bear Circle, supporting cultural preservation and Indigenous land stewardship.
