Brooklyn Queens Land Trust

Brooklyn Queens Land Trust works to ensure the conservation and preservation of open space in perpetuity for the benefit of the general public, acting as steward of the properties it owns. It holds 35 community gardens and leases two more across 20 neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens, covering liability insurance, water costs, property paperwork, and garden infrastructure for the gardeners who tend them. The gardens serve as sites for urban agriculture, arts, culture, and education, with a focus on lower-income areas that have limited access to fresh produce.
