Black-Sampit Riverkeeper

The Black-Sampit Riverkeeper is a program of Winyah Rivers Alliance, a 501(c)(3) founded in 2001 whose mission is to protect, preserve, monitor, and revitalize the health of the lands and waters of the greater Winyah Bay watershed. The Riverkeeper watches over 2,245 square miles, covering 2,080 square miles of the Black River watershed and 165 square miles of the Sampit River watershed in South Carolina. The Alliance, based in Conway, South Carolina, covers seven rivers across the Carolinas in total: the Waccamaw, Lumber, Little Pee Dee, Lower Pee Dee, Lynches, Black, and Sampit.
